For What Died The Sons Of Scotia?

For what died the sons of Scotia?

Was it greed?
That those very sons fight and bleed?
On the battlefields of ‘ore,
Tell me, what was it for?
For a bunch of ‘i’m alright union jacks’ to vote Naw?

For what died the sons of Scotia?
Was it fame?
For what flowed Scotia’s blood in rivers,
When Alexander chased the Dane –
And still breathes and is so alive,
In the sons and daughters of the forty-five –
And her heroes of yesteryear who were slain.

For what died the sons of Scotia?
Was it greed?
That gave Wallace and Bruce the courage to lead,
And for their country did they not bleed?
The spider, the lion and the unicorn,
Have watched their nation’s sovreignty torn –
From the hands of those to whom it belongs,
While the fatcats and bankers laugh and scorn.

To whom do we owe our allegiance today?
If not to our heroes, Saxon’s very bane –
To sterling, the euro or petro-dollar,
So that we can wear the collar
Of the slave?
To whom do we owe our allegiance today?

For what died the sons of Scotia?
Was it to live on an eternal bankers loan,
In an independent fracking zone?
To be spied on with cameras and drones?
Where is the freedom you may ask,
In producing a citizen’s pass,
While the politicians hide behind masks,
With their soundbites and scripts that won’t last.

For what died the sons of Scotia
by the Clan?
Where is the equality of man,
When it doesn’t fit the elite masterplan –
Where is the meritocracy to be seen?
When some are born to privilege and greed,
And others to foodbanks and need.

For what died the sons of Scotia?
